Brenda Williamson (Senior Club Person) Award

2025 Recipient: Jaime Smillie

This award is named in honour of Brenda Williamson, who was a life member and previous President of MLNC. Brenda contributed towards MLNC becoming what it is today, and was a significant pioneer in the club’s early years.

The Brenda Williamson award is to be given to someone who:

  • gives excellent service to MLNC;

  • attends the majority of MLNC functions;

  • demonstrates leadership qualities;

  • has an ongoing commitment to the future of MLNC;

  • is a good role model for all associate members of MLNC;

  • shows enthusiasm for MLNC; and

  • embodies the values of MLNC.

Jessica Williamson (Junior Club Person) Award

2025 Recipient: Eva Matthews

This award is named in honour of Jessica Williamson, who is a life member and previous President of MLNC. Jessica has played, coached and umpired for MLNC since the early days of the club, and is the club’s games records holder.

The Jessica Williamson award is to be given to someone who:

  • gives excellent service to MLNC;

  • attends the majority of MLNC functions;

  • demonstrates leadership qualities;

  • has an ongoing commitment to the future of MLNC through, for example, umpiring, coaching or mentoring younger players;

  • is a good role model for juniormembers of MLNC;

  • shows enthusiasm for MLNC; and

  • embodies the values of the Club.

Umpire of the Year Award

2025 Senior Recipient: Olive Whennen
2024 Junior Recipients: Lilah Testa and Isabelle Martindale

There will be two Umpire of the Year awards, one for a junior umpire and one for a senior umpire.

The Umpire of the Year Awards are awarded to umpires who actively umpire for MLNC, are viewed as outstanding umpires and are examples to others with regards to club spirit, loyalty and sportsmanship.

Smith Family Coach of the Year Award

2025 Recipient: Ella MacDonald

The Smith Family Coach of the Year award is awarded to a Coach who is respected by their team and has shown exemplary enthusiasm and commitment to MLNC and the game of netball in general. It is named after the Smith Family (Jo, Paul and Sharyn), who have spent countless years dedicated to coaching teams at Lakers.

The Coach of the Year is someone who dedicates their spare time to developing members of MLNC through improving their game, and encourages their team/s to play netball in the spirit of the game.

Spectator of the Year Award

2025 Recipient: The Boyes Family (Jacquie, Alister and Isaac Boyes), Thomas Buckland and Dianne Devlyn

The Spectator of the Year Award is awarded to a spectator that shows enthusiasm for MLNC, and embodies the values of MLNC week in and week out through their capacity as a spectator.

Parker Smith Medal

2025 Recipient: Aoise Noone (Open 3)

The Parker Smith Medal (named after two influential MLNC families, the Parker family and the Smith family) is the players award for all senior and 19&U teams. It is based on 3, 2, 1 votes from players throughout the regular playing season and is awarded at the annual Parker Smith Medal function at the end of the season.

Fairest & Best Awards

For junior teams, a fairest and best and runner up fairest and best award will be awarded,  based on votes awarded by the Coach after each game. These votes are done in a 3, 2, 1 format (with 3 votes for the best player on the game), and are tallied at the end of the season.

For senior/opens teams, a fairest and best award will be awarded, based on votes awarded by the Coach after each game.
